Worth Ranch, also known to 3 generations of Scouts and Scouters as the "Big Adventure" has been the jewel of the Longhorn Council since 1929. Located about 60 miles to the west of Fort Worth in Palo Pinto County Texas, its one of the nation's oldest scout camps. Set at the base of Kyle Mountain along the banks of the Brazos river Worth Ranch has a rich and historical past. Early Spanish explorers crossed the area, the parade ground was used as a camp by the Comanche Indians, Quanah Parker the last great war chief of the Comanche was born a few miles up the Brazos river. The chuck wagon was developed near here in 1866. Worth Ranch offers a look back at traditional scouting by providing a quality program that has existed from the beginning. "The Big Adventure" is maintained in as natural a state as possible to allow for the study of conservation, wildlife, woodcraft, nature, camping skills and other Scout program activities. Worth Ranch also prides itself on being the home of the Nishkin Halupa A Pe Lachi Lodge. The ranch is proud to host the Fall Ordeal and Spring Conclave for the Order of the Arrow.
